How to play Pawstack

1. Choose one of eight layouts.
2. Choose two tiles showing the same pet. Each tile must have nothing covering it and at least one open side, left or right.
3. Remove every pair to clear the layout.

What blocks a tile?

A tile on a higher layer blocks any tile it overlaps. Two neighbours on the same layer block the tile’s left and right sides. A tile with both sides occupied cannot be matched. Dim tiles are blocked.

Hints and undo

Show a pair highlights an open match that keeps the current stack solvable, when one exists. Undo pair restores the last pair you removed. If your choices leave no matching open pair, undo a move or restart the layout.

Keyboard

Use arrow keys to move focus between tiles. Enter or Space chooses a tile. Matching is automatic after the second selection. You can also click or tap.

Every starting layout has a verified solution. Your cleared layouts are saved in this browser. Pawstack is an original pet matching game with flat tile faces arranged in visible stacked layers; it is not associated with another pet mahjong title.
